Inspirational Women

International Women's Day marks a day where we can truly reflect on how far we as women have come. In today's age, it is difficult to visualise a world without the opportunities and success we as women have now, however it is important to acknowledge and appreciate this so we can together continue to grow and support each other! Below we have listed women who inspire us, as well as their success stories and how they have impacted woman kind.

Madam C.J. Walker

Madam C.J. Walker was the first ever African-American female self-made millionaire in America. Sarah grew up in poverty and in the 1890's she began to lose her hair due to a scalp condition. In the early 1900's she began to create her own hair growing treatment specifically for black women who were also suffering from the same devastating hair loss as herself. After much work and hustle, Sarah grew her business and her product line from nothing, to the success we know it to be now, We love how true she was to herself in the process of growing her business, even after it became a success. This inspiring story has recently become a Netflix series called 'Self Made' which we can confirm is worth the watch!

Grace Beverley

On a more recent note, Grace Beverley is a 25 year old CEO, launching her first business 'B_ND', a fitness equipment brand, 5 years ago. She did all this in her spare time whilst studying at Oxford University! She has since launched 'SHREDDY', a fitness app, as well as 'TALA', a sustainable gymwear brand designed for all women. Grace is now also the author to 'Working Hard, Hardly Working: How to Achieve More, Stress Less and Feel Fulfilled'. She built her empire by, sticking to what she is passionate about, and working hard. Pretty impressive hey! It's no surprise that she made it on to the Forbed 30 under 30 list in 2020!

Coco Chanel

Chanel was born into poverty in France and had little family around after her mother died when she was just 11 years old. After gaining financial assistance from a wealthy acquaintance, she began to sell sportswear in a small shop that she opened. Within the next five years, her designs were beginning to become very popular amongst wealthy French women, and by the late1920's Chanel had expanded her designs to accessories and jewellery as well as clothes- by then worth millions. Not forgetting that by then she had also employed over 2000 people!

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn was a graceful and inspiring woman who started her career in her late teens/early adult years through modelling. This was after she had a rough few years in the Netherlands during the war. Quickly becoming spotted by producers, Hepburn then began her acting career. She scored her first hugely successful role in a film called 'Roman Holiday' where she won the Oscar award as best actress. After starring in many other successful films throughout her years, she became an inspiration to aspiring actresses across the globe, as well as woman who simply admired her gracefulness and class.

We hope you have felt inspired by just a handful of these success stories from women who have impacted, and continue to impact women kind.
