How to care for natural fabrics

At Gemini, we love gorgeous eco-friendly fashion and with an increasing number of brands turning to natural fabrics to produce their clothing, it’s important to know how to correctly care for your products to maintain their natural beauty.

Brands such as Grizas, Sahara and Deck are all favouring an array of natural materials to create comfortable yet stylish Summer clothing which is a must for warmer climates. Your Summer wardrobe will no doubt include at least one floaty tunic, elegant dress or a breezy top and it’s natural materials like cotton, silk and linen which make them perfect for warm weekends away, adventurous city breaks and tropical vacations to faraway sands. These fabrics are not only lightweight and breathable, but also luxurious and able to be dyed so you can flaunt your favourite styles in vibrant colours and on-trend prints.

Looking after your clothing made from high quality fabrics involves an understanding of how to wash, iron and fold them which should be considered with each garment. This may seem time consuming but taking good care of your clothing means that they will last much longer and helps saves the environment. A huge 70-80% of clothes’ environmental impact in its entire lifetime comes from washing and drying, so it’s important to check before using your washing machine.

Our favourite natural garments at Gemini include the luxurious silks and lightweight linens from Grizas. This brand prides itself on creating gorgeous eco-friendly clothing with sumptuous natural fabrics for stylish women. They are also incredibly easy to care for as they are mostly machine washable at 30° or 40° degrees and can usually be tumble-dried, which you can double check on the product’s care label. There’s also no need to iron the bestselling crinkled styles as they are perfect straight from the washing machine!

Sahara is also one of our most loved brands, with their motto ‘Designed for life, crafted with care and built to last’. Their stunning summer styles include natural fabrics such as cotton and linen, which makes them durable and breathable. They recommend hand or machine wash on a cold delicate cycle inside out. Do not tumble dry unless your care label states otherwise and always iron on a low heat on the reverse. It is also not advisable to use bleach on any clothing made from natural fabrics as this will have a negative effect on the natural composition of the material.

If you’re unsure how to care for your product, check the care label attached to the clothing or the ‘washing & care instructions’ under the product description online. Alternatively, you can contact our customer service team on 01789 266 894 or email customercare@gemini-woman.co.uk who will be happy to assist with all garment care queries.
