Neutrals for August

As we enter the final month of summer, the cooler weather has us thinking of ways to maintain that fresh summer look whilst staying warm, and wearing neutrals is the perfect answer. Be it a knit, a pair of jeans or a dress, neutral shades create the illusion of a bright and summery outfit even if the look includes multiple layers and long sleeves! In this blog we run through the top ways to style neutral pieces to lengthen the summer vibes even when the sun is no longer out.

Mixing tones

Taupe, beige, sand, cream, ivory, mocha and camel are a few of the many neutral shades you could sport and mixing these tones when styling will help to avoid the overall look appearing flat. White, cream and ivory are great shades to have within your summer wardrobe in essential trousers, jeans, tops and knits for pairing easily with almost any colour. Below we have styled the Marie 07 Powerstretch Sand Cropped Jean with the Finty X shirt in natural, the jeans having a slightly deeper tone ensures the outfit does not wash out our amazing model, Belinda.

Mixing textures

A good way to wear neutrals is to combine multiple different fabrics and textures so that the outfit still has some depth despite being in the same tones. This is perfect for transitional styling too, pairing knits with shorts and linen trousers, or a satin neutral dress with a neutral denim jacket are just some examples of great ways to style neutral tones together. We have styled the new Zaria Ivory Jumper with a pair of classic Bella 09 White Jeans and the Garnet Trainer from Tamaris to create a casual neutral look that keeps you looking fresh and summery but still warm on the cooler days.

Pop of colour

Pops of colours always work well to break up monochromatic looks. Finalise your neutral outfits with a bright bag, piece of jewellery or a scarf, to embrace the last of the warmer days and brighter nights. We love HOFF’s trainer collection, and it is perfect for helping to incorporate some colour back into our looks. Their city-inspired collection is now available in two new colourways too; Bangkok and Bilbao! Alternatively, a simple scarf as a bag accessory or draped over the shoulders will help bring some subtle colour back into the look – we would recommend the MaAlo Leaf Print Scarf from Masai which features a neutral base with pops of lime and pink in the leaves.

Printastic

Masai’s new Autumn collection features some amazing neutral prints perfect for pairing with neutral pieces.  The abstract print below would look great styled with some neutral trousers, such as the Mapiri trousers from Masai, or a pair of Bella 09 beige trousers.
