Two Coronation Cocktails from The Little Rum & Co!

As we approach the Coronation Bank Holiday, we are keen to get the celebrations underway and what better way to kickstart the festivities than with preparing some of the Royals' favourite cocktails for sipping whilst watching the coronation on the television?

Today’s blog is a guest feature from fellow local business The Little Rum & Co! They have provided two cocktail recipes for us to share with you today; the late Queen Elizabeth’s and King Charles’ favourite drinks! We hope you enjoy...

Cocktail 1: QUEEN ELIZABETH'S DUBONNET AND GIN

Our first cocktail was Queen Elizabeth’s favourite and is a perfect combination of our Queen Cleo London Dry and the spicy and herby Dubonnet.

Created by Pernod Ricard, Dubonnet is a French drink which combines fortified wine and herbs and spices to create a lovely taste combination with gin.  Like tonic, Dubonnet also contains quinine so sits well with a London Dry gin.

YOU’LL NEED

A cocktail shaker

A martini glass

INGREDIENTS

50ml Queen Cleo London Dry Gin

100ml Dubonnet

Orange (or lemon) peel to garnish

Ice

STEP 1

Place ice into your cocktail shaker.

STEP 2

Measure 50ml of Queen Cleo London Dry Gin and add to the cocktail shaker.

STEP 3

Measure 100ml of Dubonnet and add to the cocktail shaker.

STEP 4

Gently shake the ingredients in the cocktail shaker.

STEP 5

Strain your Dubonnet and Gin into the martini glass.

STEP 6

Garnish with orange peel.

STEP 7

CHEERS!

Enjoy your cocktail but beware!  Dubonnet is 14.8% so it’s delicious and boozy.

Cocktail 2:  KING CHARLES’ GIN MARTINI

Our second cocktail is King Charles’ favourite and is something that he is rumoured to enjoy before dinner every night.

With a history dating back to the early 1900s, the classic martini was one of the most popular drinks during the Roaring Twenties and is one of our firm favourites.  King Charles likes his martini “wet” which means that it contains more vermouth than gin.

Like our first cocktail it’s simple to make and is deliciously boozy.

YOU’LL NEED

A cocktail shaker

A martini glass

INGREDIENTS

25ml Queen Cleo London Dry Gin

75ml Dry Vermouth

Lemon peel to garnish

Ice

STEP 1

Place ice into your cocktail shaker.

STEP 2

Measure 25ml of Queen Cleo London Dry Gin and add to the cocktail shaker.

STEP 3

Measure 75ml of Dry Vermouth and add to the cocktail shaker.

STEP 4

Shake the ingredients in the cocktail shaker.

STEP 5

Strain your Martini into the martini glass.

STEP 6

Garnish with lemon peel.

STEP 7

ENJOY!

Like our first Coronation cocktail, Dubonnet and Gin, this is another boozy one.
