To allow our customers to get to know our team a bit better, we asked each other a set of interview-style questions about our roles, the Gemini Woman team as a whole and a bit about ourselves! We hope you enjoy the read, and feel slightly more familiar with the team that is behind all that you see online and on social media -The Gemini Online Team x
Becky – Senior E-commerce Manager
Tell us a bit about your role…. My job role is mostly managing the marketing and acquisition channel strategies and the agencies that support. I also manage the website development which covers site content changes, website and user experience improvements and specific projects such as developing our loyalty programme or our enhancing our courier/delivery programmes. I also take pride in managing a great team and making sure they feel valued through personal development in their roles. Mostly I say I love seeing the finished results of marketing, hard copy, email, printed or the launch of a campaign gives me a real sense of achievement.
Do you have any work traits…. I think it harder identifying one’s own traits but I’d say I’m organised and love an excel spreadsheet. With a role that is so multi-faceted, efficient juggling of a to-do list is a must have skill. I’d like to think I’m thought of as a fun, friendly and approachable manager.
What’s it like working at Gemini… Busy, no two days are the same, its full on and energetic. It’s also really exciting seeing stock coming in. Gemini is a lovely welcoming environment; Claire makes everyone feel like family and it’s a great place to grow and learn.
What don’t we know about you… I enjoy walking and walked 21 miles for the Meningitis charity at the end of September last year and plan to do it again!
Annette – Operations Manager
Tell us a bit about your role…. I’m a bit of a ‘jack of all’ in my role, as part of a small team we are all adept at multitasking. I manage the stock and order processes, making sure things happen when they are supposed to and making sure our business processes are efficient. I also support the business on our HR function, payroll, H&S and accounts. I have a background in events planning so look after off-site event planning too….and on occasion (when we’re desperate) model for campaigns and the website…a real mixed bag!
Do you have any work traits…. I’m organised and a bit of a perfectionist….though have learned, over time, when and where you need to flex on these to make sure things happen. I’m usually the first one in the office in morning…I get up and go to bed with the chickens.
What’s it like working at Gemini… Gemini is a unique business to work for, female-led and very supportive. Everyone has the opportunity to make an impact and at the same time feel valued. I’m lucky to work with a young, fun and friendly team so the social aspect is great too. Also, everyone gets a cake on their birthday….that is quite a lot of cake!
What don’t we know about you… I can tap dance...and upholster a chair….probably not at the same time though! 😊
Donna – Content and Buying Manager
Tell us a bit about your role…. I am responsible for all things content. I support Claire with the initial buying of the products and sourcing of new and exciting brands. Most importantly I deal with the upload and defining of the products from delivery to the site, not forgetting the styling for all our in-house and campaign shoots. I also help with marketing decisions giving my knowledge and understanding of the brands and our customers to the table when it comes to our email and social content. When selecting products at the buys I take into consideration what our customers have liked and disliked from past seasons and try to make commercial decisions based on what I think ‘you/they’ will like best from the latest collections that our beautiful brands have to offer. Hopefully we are doing a good job 😊
Do you have any work traits….
Reliable, with a strong work ethic – I’m not one to take time off. Even when I finish work I find it hard to switch off and am constantly finding and looking at inspiration with trends, marketing ideas, brands and styling.
What’s it like working at Gemini…
Having been here for almost 11 years I can safely say that’s it’s a very enjoyable place to work. I are fortunate to have a great team and boss in Claire. Being an independent business there is plenty of opportunity to have a voice and make an impact whilst learning new skills along the way. It’s very fast paced and no two days are the same which keeps it exciting!
What don’t we know about you…
I am a mummy to two lovely little monsters. I used to love dancing and appeared once on a TV show called ‘Mad For It’. Hopefully no one has a copy of it! thankfully social media wasn’t what it is today.
Laura - Lead E – Commerce Assistant
Tell us a bit about your role…. I look after all the online orders ensuring they get beautifully packaged and delivered to you as well as customer service regarding any orders and the daily running of the Dispatch department 😊
Do you have any work traits…. I am definitely the loudest of them all 😊
What’s it like working at Gemini… Magical – I love it here! The girls are great fun and we have a laugh even if there are those days when it can be slightly less magical 😊
What don’t we know about you… I HATE nutmeg – I don’t do running and my fave comfort film is Sense and Sensibility – the one with Hugh Grant 😊
Lauren – Marketing Assistant
Tell us a bit about your role…. Within my role at Gemini I work very closely with Becky our E-commerce Manager to bring the company graphics and emails to life! Anything thrown my way I design digitally to fit the companies values and tone of voice. Alongside my designing I also keep track of the website, making sure our customers are able to see all of our lovely new arrivals. I'm also part managing the social media with our content creator Amber too. So anything digital & creative my name is all over it.
Do you have any work traits…. My work traits would probably be wearing half gym half work-appropriate outfits, creativity and being a little bit blonde at times …oh and always having a smile on my face despite my photo!
What’s it like working at Gemini… Working at Gemini can be so empowering, this is because working in a female-led team is so motivating & refreshing to see especially with how talented and knowledgeable everyone is, it pushes me to work harder just so I can compare. The environment is so friendly and welcoming, sometimes it doesn’t even feel like work!
What don’t we know about you… You'll probably find me in the gym or at a rave with my friends there's not really a balance in my life, I'm always somewhere doing something... At 16 I was asked to play in the Wimbledon Juniors & I'm not a natural blonde
Fran – Creative Photography Manager
Tell us a bit about your role…. I manage the photography and design small team. It’s my first job since graduating and I’m loving it. I’m responsible for making sure all deadlines are met with creating the product and model imagery for the website but I also get to design our brochures and campaigns. My favourite part of my role is the model shoots and campaigns on location. I get to be super creative and work with a great team of stylists, models and social content designers.
Do you have any work traits…. I have an eye for detail, I am diligent and quiet in the office. I’m also petite so can often be missed sitting behind my super-sized I Mac screen. Also, I can be relied upon for the latest Love Island news and updates.
What’s it like working at Gemini… Gemini is a fun environment to work. I love being in fashion and seeing different brands and collections daily so it’s a dream job. I work with a great team where I get a real opportunity to put my own creative stamp on things and the variety of work keeps things interesting.
What don’t we know about you… I’m a bit of a party animal and I LOVE clothes. I can often be found at a festival, club or jetting off last minute somewhere hot with a party vibe…..I pack a lot of shoes!
Kay - Part Time Assistant Photographer
Tell us a bit about your role…. I assist Fran in the photography department...shooting in house and on location and sometimes I am in front of the camera instead of behind it. I also edit the model shoots and upload to the Gemini website.
Do you have any work traits…. I am flexible and happy to help in any way I can. I think I'm pretty good at Photoshop!
What’s it like working at Gemini… Gemini is a very friendly place to work. As a freelance Children's photographer, I work mainly on my own (except for my mini clients) so I like coming to Gemini and having work mates! I enjoy working in a fashion environment and the bonus is I get to try on lovely clothes to!! (I have to stop myself from spending all my wages).
What don’t we know about you… I love the theatre, particularly musicals, which is why I am a member of The Redditch Operatic Society. Being involved in an amateur dramatic group is great fun. I once played a "Fork" in Beauty and the Beast!!
Amber - Content Assistant
Tell us a bit about your role…. Within my role I assist Donna, our content manager in merchandising and updating the website, creating social content such as reels and BTS on our photoshoots, as well as assisting in styling and shoot prep, and uploading new products onto the website as they come in.
Do you have any work traits…. I think my main work trait is enjoying being in a fast-paced environment and an industry that is always evolving. I would also say I'm quite determined as my current commute isn't always the easiest but I make it work!
What’s it like working at Gemini… Working at Gemini is really great. Since starting at the end of September I have felt very supported in my own progression and growth, I have learned a lot and feel proud to be part of the team. I am excited to keep learning and hopefully make a positive impact within my role. The Gemini team are amazing and we all get on really well!
What don’t we know about you… I’m taking up pole dancing as a new hobby.
Jess – Part-Time Photographer
Tell us a bit about your role…. I assist in the photography team. Focusing mainly on the product images, ghost mannequin images for the website and the creative flat-lay and rail shots for socials. I can also be found helping out in stock & dispatch.
Do you have any work traits…. Creative and willing to learn new skills
What’s it like working at Gemini… Brilliant, its the the most comfortable working environment I have worked in. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help you out when needed.
What don’t we know about you… I have played golf from the age of 8.
Abbey - E-Commerce Assistant
Tell us a bit about your role…. I package orders and I speak to all our lovely customers to help place orders and assist with any queries they may have! I have recently started doing some training with Amber so that I can assist with defining products and merchandising!
Do you have any work traits… I am always eating crisps... I enjoy being proactive and keeping busy, so I will always try to find new things to do!
What’s it like working at Gemini… I find that it is a very supportive environment, and since I have started, I have been given opportunities to expand my learning in different areas of the business. I feel supported in my progression which is exciting!
What don’t we know about you… I went travelling solo through western Europe and Morocco!
